November 28 is Small Business Saturday, a “holiday” which encourages shoppers to patronize small, local, brick and mortar businesses. Since Baltimore is back to 25% capacity in retail shops, it now more important than ever that we support our local merchants and #ShopSmall.

Due to a spike in cases of the coronavirus, Baltimore City will revert to an amended Phase 1 status on Thursday, November 12. Masks are required to be worn in public, indoors, and outdoors. Most indoor occupancy is to be capped at 25% and outdoor gatherings are limited to 10 people or less.

Has the coronavirus put the kibosh on Halloween fun? We think not, but it’s sure to look a little different this year. Since traditional trick or treating is not the best move in 2020, Team LNC, COTS, and the CCA are working on some fun ideas for virtual and physically distanced celebrations. How about a virtual costume contest or a safely spaced Halloween Parade for the kids and pups? Maybe a prize for the best-decorated house? Or perhaps a virtual pumpkin carving contest?

The CCA welcomes new business member the Holmes Glorioso Home Group. Founded by realtors Kim Lally Holmes and Angela Glorioso in 2020, you can find them in the heart of Canton at 2936 O’Donnell Street.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One way to participate is BreastFest Baltimore, a fundraiser for the Tyanna Foundation. Breast Cancer doesn’t social distance, but Tyanna does, so this year they’re going virtual with BreastFest in a Bag!

If you are voting via Absentee Ballot and want to avoid the mail, there are several Baltimore City Ballot Drop Box locations. The closest location to Canton is in front of the Southeast Anchor Library at 3601 Eastern Avenue.

Residents, we need your help and quickly. You may not be aware that a bill to allow large advertising billboards to be placed on land owned by the railroads and next to Highways is working its way through City Hall. It might sound like “no big deal” however the law, as written, would allow up to 20 billboards per mile of highway.
