The car parade will wind its way through Southeast Baltimore, with music, massive glowing lanterns, bubbles, decorated vehicles, Día de Los Muertos inspired floats and sculptures, flowers, lights, and special pop-up Sidewalk Serenade performances located along the parade route to keep the energy moving. Halloween Decorating Contest
Decorate your house, door or sidewalk tree. Take photos and we’ll post them online and we’ll also create a map so neighbors can walk or drive-by before they vote. Winner(s) will receive a prize from local businesses. Look for details on how to enter on CCA social (FB/IG) next week.
Pumpkin Carving Contest
Mr. Nice Guy Cocktails is partnering with Team LNC to host a Pumpkin Carving Contest. You’ll purchase your pumpkin (and cocktail package) at Mr. Nice Guy, carve it at home, then return it for judging. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Team LNC Fund which gives back to Canton via helpful projects in our community. Details to follow on https://www.mrniceguycocktails.com/.

Slow Streets Program launches on Fleet Street
Baltimore City recently implemented the third round of the Slow Streets Program which includes the “slowing” of Fleet Street from S. Chester to Haven Streets through Canton and Brewers Hill. Roadways that are designated as Slow Streets are restricted to local traffic only. Traffic calming measures are intended to provide neighborhoods with safe areas to social distance while walking, running, or cycling. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/36yerVP.
Foam Container Ban
A state law goes into effect October 1 prohibiting restaurants, schools, and other food service outlets from using polystyrene containers, more commonly and erroneously known as Styrofoam. The law originally was scheduled to take effect July 1, but because of pandemic-related shutdowns, state officials allowed more time for affected businesses to use remaining stock.
DPW Recycling Locations
Recycling pickup is temporarily suspended in Baltimore through November 1, 2020. During this time, DPW will provide 14 locations across the city where residents will be able to dispose of recycling Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The closest location to Canton is the DPW Marine Operations Facility located at 3311 Eastbourne Avenue off Clinton Street south of Boston Street.
