Education Update
/After a year of virtual learning, with many schools reopening classrooms, what does that look like for our kids? We reached out to local educators and asked them for an update. We’ll share info from Hampstead Hill Academy, Patterson Park Public Charter School, Clay Hill Public Charter School and Highlandtown Preschool.
HAMPSTEAD HILL ACADEMY
500 S. Linwood Avenue | 410-396-9146
HHA Principal Matt Hornbeck tells us that students will start to have the opportunity to return to in-person instruction in mid-March. Baltimore City Public Schools is permitting specific grade bands of students to return in phases. HHA is sitting out the first two phases to permit more staff to get fully vaccinated and for the warmer weather that will allow more outdoor classes. Two district-approved grade bands will return to HHA on the following schedule: Kindergarten through 2nd grade will be invited to in-person instruction to start Monday, March 15th, and grades 3 - 5 will be invited to start in-person instruction Monday, April 12th. The younger students will remain on an AM/PM in-person/virtual schedule, and the older students will most likely do an AM/PM schedule as well, depending on the number of students returning. Parents will have just one opportunity to decide whether or not to take part in in-person instruction through the end of this school year. For more info, visit www.hha47.org.

HIGHLANDTOWN PRESCHOOL
27 N. Lakewood Avenue | 667-212-5623
The Highlandtown Preschool serves three- and four-year-old students with a community-focused and nature-based curriculum. They operate year-round, with spring, summer, and fall terms. All students are five days per week – some are full day (8:00am-4:000pm, extended to 5:30pm), while some are half day 8am-noon. Parents interested in summer and fall term enrollment may contact the director, Ms. Carnesha Banks, at director@thehighlandtownpreschool.org to schedule individual tours when the school is empty (due to the ongoing pandemic). Families should submit enrollment forms for summer by March 1st, and for fall by April 1st. Pastor Mark Parker is excited to announce the school is expanding! They will be buying an adjoining property on Clinton Street and renovating it for two-year-old classrooms, hoping to open the first classroom in January 2022. Please contact Ms. Banks for more information.
