/O’Donnell Square Park Clean Up
Join the Stewards of O'Donnell Square Park, led by CCA Outreach Chair Torbin Green, on Saturday, April 24 to help with a Spring CleanUp. Baltimore City Recreation and Parks will provide tools (gloves, rakes, trash bags and shovels) and personnel support. We should start around 10am. CCA board members will also be on-site to lend a hand and tell you more about the organization. Thanks for Getting Neighborly!
Canton Canopy Spring Planting
Canton Canopy, the volunteer group working with the CCA to increase the trees in Canton, returns for the season on Saturday, April 24. Join them from 9:00 a.m. to noon to help plant new trees! Go Fly A Kite Weekend
In honor of The BIG Baltimore Kite Fest, the Creative Alliance and Friends of Patterson Park are hosting a “Go Fly A Kite Weekend”, encouraging everyone to head outside the weekend of April 10th and 11th to GO FLY A KITE! Grab a picnic from your favorite restaurant and head to the park to soak up the sunshine and launch kites into the air! Kites will be available for sale on-site. Note: Due to the COVID-19 restrictions there will be no official location or activities for the weekend. They are just encouraging everyone to get outside for a weekend of beauty and fun with the ideal social distancing activity - kite flying!
Electronics Recycling
A free community electronics recycling event is being held on April 10 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm (or until the trucks are full) at the Captain James Crabhouse parking lot at 2121 Aliceanna Street. Items being accepted include flat laptops, cell phones, PDA’s, personal computers, flatscreen TVs, monitors, printers, copiers, scanners, medical/lab equipment, and test equipment. Canton Anti-Racism Alliance
The Canton Anti-Racism Alliance is dedicated to affecting long-term, impactful changes in our neighborhood to foster a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming community. The Alliance meets the 4th Tuesday of every month via Zoom. To join, email president@cantoncommunity.org for details. Everyone is welcome!

Canton COP Walk
Monthly COP Walks resume this month on Tuesday, April 20 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., starting and ending at Canton Local at 801 S. Decker Ave. Neighbors are invited to hang out before and after the walk.
Reporting and Preventing Crime – Tip Line
Baltimore City Police Department asks neighbors to report crimes via this TIP email: SEDtips@baltimorepolice.org. Security camera footage and photos should be included.
Traffic Advisory Clinton Street Closure/Detour
Beginning on or about April 5th, 2021 until fall of 2021 S. Clinton St. will be closed for southbound traffic from Boston St. to Eastbourne Ave. Northbound traffic will be open. Parking will be restricted on both sides of the street from Boston St. to Eastbourne Ave.
Vehicles traveling on Boston St. eastbound will be detoured on S. Highland Avenue and vehicles traveling westbound will be detoured on to Baylis St. Detour signs have been posted.
This will allow for the full depth pavement construction on southbound Clinton St. to Eastbourne Ave.

Block Captains
The CCA is looking for Block Captains to increase communication and help bring about more organization from the ground up. Block Captains also play an important role in the Get Lit Canton project. If you are interested in representing your block, please email info@cantoncommunity.org and put Block Captain in the subject line.
CCA Committees
CCA committees include Arts, Economic Development, Education, Marketing, Public Safety, Transportation, Social, Membership and Volunteer. The CCA also oversees the Friends of Canton Dog Park and Friends O’Donnell Square, and partners with Canton Canopy. And, last year the CCA founded a new community committee, the Canton Anti-Racism Alliance. New members are welcomed. Details can be found on our website at https://www.cantoncommunity.org/committees.
Canton Anti-Racism Alliance
The Alliance hosts a virtual meeting the 4th Tuesday of every month to discuss and affect change to help Canton become a more welcoming, diverse, inclusive, equitable and welcoming neighborhood. Currently, they are hosting a conversation with Dr. Lawrence Brown to discuss his book The Black Butterfly: The Harmful Politics of Race and Space in America on April 6, 2021. The CCA Marketing Committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month. For Spring, we are planning two popup events including a cleanup at O’Donnell Square Park in April and an event addressing sustainability in our community in June. Bayside Cantina
Local restauranteur Carlos Cruz is opening Bayside Cantina in the former Raw Bar location along the Canton Waterfront. The restaurant, featuring a Tex-Mex menu, is aiming to open early May. Mr. Cruz also owns Chilango’s Mexican Grill in Fell’s Point and Carlos O’Charlies in Highlandtown. Look for more details to follow on the CCA social media pages.
Coming to Canton Crossing
The CCA EDC tells us that 3 new business are coming to Canton Crossing. Primo Hoagies is replacing Jimmy Johns, Kleen Barbers is replacing Hair Cuttery, and Pizzeria Uno’s is replacing Red Robin.
