Discover the History of the Canton Company, 1828 through 1980s
Join local amateur historian Raymond D. Bahr, MD, of the Canton History Project, on Saturday, February 6 from 12:00-1:30pm as he presents his research into the Harris Creek watershed and the Canton Company. He will also talk about how Peter Cooper, President Lincoln, and Fredrick Douglass fit into the history of Canton. Public Safety Meeting
The Southeast Public Safety Task Force, organized by Councilmember Zeke Cohen's Office, hosts it’s next virtual meeting on Thursday, February 18, from 6:30PM-7:45PM. To participate, please email Councilmember Cohen's Chief of Staff, Joshua Thomson, at Joshua.Thomson@baltimorecity.gov to RSVP and receive the log-in/dial-in information for the meeting.

Reporting and Preventing Crime – Tip Line
The Baltimore City Police Department asks neighbors to report crimes via this TIP email: SEDtips@baltimorepolice.org. Security camera footage and photos should be included.

Winter Snow Removal
Residents are responsible for removing snow from the sidewalk in front of their houses. Per City Code, snow removal is required within 3 hours after the end of a snow or ice event unless the snowfall stops between 3:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m., in which case snow must be removed by 11:00 am. Failure to shovel the snow from the sidewalk in front of one’s residence/property can result in fines. Neighbor Check - Please be mindful of helping your neighbors, especially seniors or the physically challenged. 

CCA NEWS

CCA Public Meeting and Board Elections
The CCA will hold its annual Board Elections on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, during the virtual CCA Public Meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m. For details on who is running, visit https://www.cantoncommunity.org/news-and-notes/2021/1/27/canton-community-association-2021-board-elections. Block Captains
The CCA is looking for Block Captains to increase communication and help bring about more organization from the ground up. Block Captains also play an important role in the Get Lit Canton project. If you are interested in representing your block, please email info@cantoncommunity.org and put Block Captain in the subject line. 

CCA Committees
CCA committees include Arts, Economic Development, Education, Marketing, Public Safety, Transportation, Social, Membership and Volunteer. The CCA also oversees the Friends of Canton Dog Park and Friends O’Donnell Square, and partners with Canton Canopy. And, last year the CCA founded a new community committee, the Canton Anti-Racism Alliance. New members are welcomed. Details can be found on our website at https://www.cantoncommunity.org/committees

Canton Anti-Racism Alliance
The Alliance, founded in July 2020, hosts a virtual meeting monthly to discuss and affect change to help Canton become a more welcoming, diverse, and inclusive neighborhood. Marketing
The CCA Marketing Committee will resume virtual monthly meetings in February. We could use a few new members on our team. If you’re interested in learning more or sitting in, please email marketing@cantoncommunity.org.  

Membership

Transportation
The CCA Transportation Committee is working with the greater Water Transit committee of Baltimore to improve commuter service of the Water Taxi to patrons along waterfront communities. We’ll share details as we get them.
