Black-owned Business List
One way to support our neighbors of color is to shop and dine at Black-owned businesses. Use this link (https://bit.ly/2YnvhT7) for a map of Black-owned restaurants in Baltimore City, including the Knotty Pine, Black Acres Roastery and Shipyard Pub in Canton. Don’t forget Gift Cards are a great way to support as well.
Tray & Company
If you need help removing the last of the leaves, or shoveling snow this winter give Tray & Company a try. Tray Smith, the 2020 CCA Volunteer of the Year, is also the President of the Southeast Youth and Families Engagement Organization (www.facebook.com/SoutheastBaltimore2019/). He volunteers regularly in the neighborhood and attends most CCA meetings. We value his commitment to our community and this city. To support this young entrepreneur and community activist, book online at https://www.facebook.com/TrayandCompany.
Christmas Tree Removal
Are you ready to take down your Christmas tree and not sure what to do with it? The Baltimore DPW offers two solutions. 1.) Put your tree out with your regular trash collection from January 2- February 6, 2021. Or, 2.) Tree mulching starts Saturday, January 2. Drop off your tree at the Northwest Citizens' Convenience Center located at 2840 Sisson St. and carry home some mulch. For details, visit https://bit.ly/38N0YJs.
Community Collection Centers – Recycling
Curbside recycling collections are set to resume on January 19, 2021, as Mayor Brandon M. Scott previously announced. Until recycling restarts, DPW will continue to operate recycling collection drop-off centers Monday-Saturday in each of the 14 City Council Districts. The five DPW Citizens’ Convenience Centers are available to accept recycling as well. For more information, https://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov/collectionupdate.
Reporting and Preventing Crime – Tip Line
The Baltimore City Police Department asks neighbors to report crimes via this TIP email: SEDtips@baltimorepolice.org. They also want to remind residents that 75% of home invasions happen through unlocked doors. So please lock your doors and windows and hide your car keys as well so your vehicle won’t get stolen after a break-in. And, as an additional precaution, do not leave packages or any personal items in your car.
