Holidays are a time for giving. It’s fun to shop for our family and friends, but it’s even more heartwarming to help those we may not know. Here are some of our favorite ways to have a good time and contribute to our community.

13th Annual Lamp Post Lighting Ceremony

Bring the children and join the excitement of the 13th Annual Lamp Post Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, December 18 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Stroll O’Donnell Square Park while taking in the festive sights and sounds brought to you by our local, independently-owned, businesses. Vote for your favorite decorated Lamp Post while sipping delicious, free hot chocolate and coffee! More cheer will be available via Irish coffee, beer & wine. Santa will make his annual debut following the lighting of the lamps at 6:15 pm sharp followed by even more surprises for the children. The event is hosted by Southern Provisions, Church on the Square and the CCA. Proceeds to benefit the Believe In Tomorrow Children's Foundation.

Fill the Square! Toy Drive

The Exchange Club of Highlandtown-Canton will host their annual Fill the Square! Toy Drive on Saturday, December 14 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at O’Donnell Square Park. Any donation of new, unwrapped toys will be greatly appreciated. Santa will be there to greet you and you can hear the OrchKids@Highlandtown215 from 12:00-1:00pm. For details, visit here.

Mahaffey's Pub Winter Wonderland Block Party & Breakfast with Santa

Mahaffey’s Pub, 2706 Dillon Street, hosts their 4th Annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 7, but with a twist. This year, it’s an all day (10:00 am-7:00 p.m.) Winter Wonderland Block Party! Enjoy Breakfast with Santa 10:00 a.m.-2 p.m. with pancakes, bacon and sausage. But the fun doesn’t stop there. Hang out live music, a visit from Santa, face painting, beer, food and more! Bring a toy for The St Francis Neighborhood Center kids (ages 5-15) and you can get your picture taken with Santa for free! Photos are available without toys for $10 each.
