Baltimore in the 1960s: An Unsettled Time - Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 pm
The 1960s were remarkable for the change, turmoil, and violence that seemed epidemic throughout America. Baltimore was no exception, and yet the decade was host to many positive changes in its citizens' lifestyles, the jobs they held, and the urban infrastructure they both created and prevented. This program offers stories of the era: personal, communal, commercial, and industrial. This is how the city and its people reacted to change and met many of the challenges of this, the decade of the 1960s.  Presented by local historian and author Jack Burkert. This program was made possible by the support of the Friends of the Canton Library, and will be held across the street from the Canton Branch at the Dnipro Ukrainian Club at 3101 O'Donnell St.

Black-owned Restaurant List
One way to support our neighbors of color is to shop and dine at Black-owned businesses. Use this link https://bit.ly/2YnvhT7 for a map of Black-owned restaurants in Baltimore City, including Simply Marie’s, Knotty Pine, Shipyard Pub, Off the Rox, Water for Chocolate, Sunga’s Café, Wacky Waffles Cafe, and Get It In Island Cuisine II in or neighboring Canton.

Winter Snow Removal
Neighbors, please clear the sidewalks on your block when it snows and be mindful of helping your neighbors, especially seniors or the physically challenged. In case you didn’t know, residents (including renters) are responsible for removing snow from the sidewalk in front of their houses. Per City Code, snow removal is required within 3 hours after the end of a snow or ice event unless the snowfall stops between 3 pm and 6 am, in which case snow must be removed by 11 a.m. Failure to shovel the snow from the sidewalk in front of one’s residence/property can result in fines. (Okay, we’ve never seen this happen, but we wanted to let you know that this is a thing. Plus, it’s just a great way to #GetNeighborly!)
