July 4th Celebrations and Fireworks
This year’s Inner Harbor July 4th festivities will kick off around 3 p.m. and the stellar 13-minute fireworks display will go off around 9:15 p.m. There will be food and fun activities including a DJ, picnic, street performers, a concert by the BSO, and more. Neighbors, grab a blanket or some chairs and we’ll see you at Canton Waterfront Park for the fireworks! DETAILS

Since you’ll be able to see an awesome display over Canton, please leave the fireworks to the professionals. Consumer use of fireworks is illegal in Baltimore City. And, it scares animals, can trigger PTSD, could cause a fire, and lots of other not-so-great stuff. So, please be a responsible and thoughtful neighbor, and DON’T set off fireworks in the city!

Juneteenth Freedom Walk
The Canton Anti-racism Alliance and Dr. Raymond Bahr (founder of the Canton History Project) hosted a symbolic Freedom Walk on Juneteenth. Neighbors walked along Boston Street from the Frederick Douglass History Panels outside the Tindeco Wharf Apartments to the Frederick Douglass Historical Marker Sign outside Sprouts Market (approx. 1 mile). The group discussed the importance of Frederick Douglass and his connection to Canton. They also read and talked about Dr. Heather Cox Richardson’s 14 reflections. To join The Alliance, email info@CantonCommunity.org.

CCA Public Safety Meeting
The CCA hosted a Public Safety Meeting on June 21 at Southern Provisions. Topics included property crimes, larceny, burglary, the increase in auto theft, the Block Captain Program, fire prevention, and the construction of Boston St. The next Public Meeting will be September 19th. Questions can be sent to Joe Koehler, CCA Treasurer and Public Safety Co-Chair and Alex Kursch, CCA Public Safety Co-Chair.
