CCA Economic Development Committee Update

There are several projects pending development in our neighborhood and the applicants have asked for community support.

• The Chasseur – 3328 Foster Avenue
The owners of the Chasseur Restaurant have received permits from the city to add a rooftop deck to the existing building. They have met with the Economic Development Committee which is the committee within the CCA to review these types of projects. The Chasseur explained their plan which would include six, 6-top tables for dining on the roof. There will be no speakers, TVs, or the like to be mindful of noise levels for neighbors. The rooftop dining will stop by 10:00 pm. Their goal is to extend outdoor seating without lessening the available street parking.

• Gallery Church - 3115 Eastern Avenue
Gallery Church is partnering with Urban Design Group to convert the site of the Gallery Church into a multi-purpose site. The project would include 30 apartments and one commercial suite in a new, 4 story building on the corner at Ellwood and Eastern. The development is seeking to change the zoning from R-8 to C-1 to be more in line with the commercial corridor of Eastern Avenue. The Church and the townhouse on the property will remain and be renovated. The on-site parking will be lowered to seven spaces.

• St. Brigid Church - 901 S. Ellwood Street
Developer Edgemont Builders is looking to convert the site of the former St. Brigid church on Hudson between Ellwood and Robinson into housing. The project would include 9 townhomes with 2 garage parking spaces for each unit. The former rectory building will be retained and renovated into 6 one-bedroom apartments. The sale is not yet final.

• United Evangelical Church School – 900 Block S. East Avenue
Developer Edgemont builders proposed the conversion of the former school portion of the church building into 14 one-bedroom apartments. The church will remain in operation as usual. Due to its historic status, off-street parking is not required for this site. The sale is not yet final.

• Lee’s Pint and Shell – 2844 Hudson Street
Lee’s Pint and Shell is currently planning a Shucking in the Street Event. The proposed event date is September 18.
