Canton Day of Giving

The CCA and the Exchange Club of Highlandtown-Canton are partnering for a Day of Giving in Canton. Stop by O’Donnell Square Park on Saturday, December 12 from 10:00 am-2:00 pm to donate new, unwrapped toys and nonperishable food items to help us “Fill the Square”. (Diapers, wipes, formula, pet food accepted, too.)

Toys from the “Fill the Square! Toy Drive” will be distributed by the public servants of the Southeast District, Baltimore City Police. Donated food items will also be distributed locally via Church on the Square.

Black-owned Business List
One way to support our neighbors of color is to shop and dine at Black-owned businesses. Use this link (https://bit.ly/2YnvhT7) for a map of Black-owned restaurants in Baltimore City, including the Knotty Pine and Shipyard Pub in Canton. Don’t forget Gift Cards make a great holiday present!

O’Donnell Square Buy-A-Brick Program
Support the endowment to maintain O'Donnell Square Park with the purchase of a commemorative brick. Pay tribute to someone's love of the community or recognize birthdays, anniversaries, birth and wedding dates, businesses, or memorializing loved ones. The cost of a commemorative brick is $70. You may also purchase a replica of your brick with felt backing for an additional $35. We can duplicate previously purchased bricks, too. If you are not sure of the wording on your brick, email brick@cantoncommunity.org and we can help.

Reporting and Preventing Crime – Tip Line
The Baltimore City Police Department asks neighbors to report crimes via this TIP email: SEDtips@baltimorepolice.org. They also want to remind residents that 75% of home invasions happen through unlocked doors. So please lock your doors and windows and hide your car keys as well so your vehicle won’t get stolen after a break-in. And, as an additional precaution, do not leave packages or any personal items in your car.
