The Tradition Continues: Lamp Post Decorating Party
/The 13th Annual O'Donnell Square Lamp Post Lighting Ceremony & Decorating Contest scores another high five from the community. The CCA thanks all the participants, volunteers, and neighbors who braved the cold and joined in the fun this past December!!
Congratulations to the Lamp Post Decorating Contest Winner, new entry St. Casimir Catholic School.
The project was coordinated by 4th grade teacher Mrs. Shortall. Also helping with the project were the Myer and Habela families , and students who added their fingerprints.
We want to give a big shout out to all the other businesses that decorated a Lamp Post including the CCA, Southern Provisions, Claddagh Pub, Looney’s Pub, El Bufalo Tequila Bar & Kitchen, Arcane Gallery and Tattoo Studio, Dangerously Delicious Pies, Mama’s on the Half Shell & Nacho Mama’s, and Church on the Square. It’s awesome to see the enthusiasm and we loved all the entries!
Special thanks to Matthew Bull Lasinski from Southern Provisions & Canton Square Hospitality Association, and CCA Board Member Jim Hamilton of Church on the Square (COTS) for planning and co-hosting the event. And, a special thanks to Santa for making the trip from the North Pole.
We also want to show some love for the CCA Arts Committee who had a great time creating a lamppost design for the Canton Community Association’s entry. This year, the installation is a working food donation drop-off point. Neighbors can drop off donations at the giant “Canton’s Soup” can at O’Donnell Square Park. Just lift the red lid to donate! All contributions will be distributed locally via COTS.
The committee chair, Ania M Milo of Ania M Milo Fine Art & Pet Portraits, painted the fun over-sized soup cans and newcomer Chelsea Maloney was a huge help in gathering materials and creating the glitter-coated cans falling from the sky. Julie M. Kichline, of [kik-line] DESIGN, envisioned the concept and local carpenter and volunteer extraordinaire Chris Broughton was a huge help installing the design. Actually, thanks to all 4 for showing up in the cold to do the 3-hour install. We appreciate our volunteers!
The CCA Arts Committee is an all-volunteer group whose goal is to enrich our community via discovering, supporting and promoting local artists. To join, email Cantonarts@cantoncommunity.org. To participate in future events email volunteer@cantoncommunity.org.
