It’s February, and that means Valentine’s Day is upon us. One way to celebrate is to treat your special someone, or yourself, to a day of pampering at the spa. So, we called on an expert in indulgence, Zina Berer, the owner of Zina’s Day Spa & Salon.

Zina’s has been a fixture on O’Donnell Square for many years. How long have you been open and why did you pick Canton?

This year will be 20 years since the start of our business here in Canton. When I was looking for an area to open the Spa/Salon I automatically fell in love with Canton and O'Donnell Square. The neighborhood reminded me of my hometown which I admired so dearly, and it was the perfect location surrounded by water, parks, and lots of areas to walk.

(Zina is originally from Moldova in Eastern Europe just north of the port city of Odessa, Ukraine on the edge of the Black Sea.)

Tell us a little bit about your business?

We are a full-service Aveda spa and salon, offering treatments from head-to-toe. In the spa, we feature massage and body scrubs, facials, waxing, and other skin care solutions. In the salon, our stylists provide the latest in hair and nail care services including make-up application and Bridal packages.

What does it mean to be an Aveda salon?

To be an Aveda salon means that we as a business use only the highest quality, botanically based beauty, hair, skin care, and make-up products. As a Salon we hope to represent Aveda in the best possible way, striving to attain environmental leadership and responsibility.

Zina’s offers extended treatments beyond standard hair, skin and nail care. What are some of the new beauty trends available at the Spa/Salon?

Lashes and brows are all the rage right now. We offer eyelash lifting and extensions, as well microblading. Our clients also enjoy our full body natural sunless tanning. And, we are the only salon on the square to offer a sauna and steam shower – a great way to relax and remove toxins.

What about Valentine’s Day? What are some customer favorites?

I want to tell you our Spa Packages are very popular for Valentine's Day. Couples love to come together to enjoy a day of pampering. They can pick from a number of indulgent specials featuring different combinations of massage, body scrubs, facials mani/pedis and sauna. We like being a part of something bigger than our business. Canton is family. For the last two decades, we have loved meetings and caring for our neighbors and making friends.
