December Care Drive at COTS
/Holidays are a time for giving. It’s fun to shop for our family and friends, but it’s even more heartwarming to help those we don’t know. The Church on the Square, at 1025 S. Potomac Street, is offering three ways to ‘care’ during the month of December.
1. Adopt a Family for the Holidays
Father Jim Hamilton will be working with the dedicated people of Healthcare for the Homeless to help neighbors adopt a family in need. You may not meet this family as it will be up to them to make contact. Sometimes relationships are forged and sometimes it is about giving back dignity and giving incognito. To participate, please email Father Jim at jhamilton@cotsbmore.org.
2. Newborn Care Packages
For Newborn Care Packages, give at tithe.ly for bulk items or drop them off at Church on the Square until December 16. Items needed include diapers, digital thermometers, baby wipes, baby bottles—4 oz. or 8 oz. with extra nipples, powdered baby formula, pacifiers, washcloths, baby blankets and baby socks. All are welcome to assemble Newborn Care Packages and write encouraging notes to mothers in need, to let them know that they are supported.
3. Winter Clothing Drive
Bring new or very lightly used warm clothing for the Winter Clothing Drive to keep our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness safe and warm on the cold winter nights to come. Drop off at Church on the Square until December 16th.
